All new students shall complete their application and submit the $30 non-refundable fee prior to an audition. Tuition and/or a completed financial aid application is due on or before Sept. 10, 2017.

Sibling Discount: Full tuition payment is expected upfront. Sibling discounts are provided in the form of a check refund within 30 days of full payment of tuition. (Scroll down for financial aid information and application.)
The multi sibling refund is as follows:
- 1st child/sibling: pays full tuition
- 2 siblings: $50 check refund
- 3 siblings: $100 check refund
- 4 siblings: $150 check refund
Prorated Tuition: Students who are accepted at mid-season are granted prorated tuition. No refund of tuition can be made once a student has accepted membership. Mid-season tuition and/or a completed financial aid application is due on or before the first rehearsal of each accepted mid-season student. (The sibling discount is not applicable with the reduced mid-season tuition rate.)

No refund of tuition can be made once a student has accepted membership. Student tuition covers all rehearsal costs, facility rental fees, sectional coaches, clinics, concert programs, concert venues, music, website, photocopies, one t-shirt for the student, and other fees and services paid out through BAYS for the season. Bay Area Youth Symphony accepts payment via PayPal, Chase Quick Pay, Online Bill Pay, checks, money orders and cash. We are unable to process credit card payments at the school where rehearsals are held. All tuition balances are due in full. BAYS is a non-profit organization so tuition rates are based solely on the needs to make the organization to operate and manage its monetary needs. Please Note: Music will not be checked out to a student until tuition is paid or a completed financial aid packet is received by the due date. For instruments such as the harp that might not be used for every concert, tuition will be pro-rated.
Financial Aid: Bay Area Youth Symphony provides financial assistance for those in need in the form of partial or full tuition, not including the $30 application fee. No student will be denied membership based on financial hardship. All students must first pass an audition before requesting financial assistance. Applicants must state the amount of need on the application and turn in the required documentation which the BAYS Financial Aid Chair and/or Executive Officers will review. Aid is granted based on proof of need, Free & Reduced Lunch form or your most recent Federal Income tax return. Consistent student absences will affect eligibility. Late or incomplete financial aid applications will not be considered.
Note: IRS non-profit organization guidelines require a copy of the first two pages of the most recent tax return to verify financial need. Financial assistance does not affect the standing or eligibility of a member in any way and recipients will be expected to assist BAYS in some way (finding business sponsors, volunteer for a BAYS committee such as fundraising, advertising or concert assistant.) All financial concerns are strictly confidential and will only be used for reference with BAYS tax liabilities and filing verification. All completed Financial Aid applications are due on or before Sept. 10, 2017.
