Tuition Information

Fees and Tuition and Installments

The application fee is $25.00 for current members and new applicants and is non-refundable. Tuition for symphony level members for the 2011/2012 season is $480.00. Tuition for preparatory level members is $300.00.

Tuition covers all concerts, rehearsals, sectional coaches, concert venues, music, a BAYS t-shirt, fees and services paid out through BAYS for the 2011-2012 season. Bay Area Youth Symphony accepts checks, money orders and cash. We are unable to process credit card payments at this time.

Symphony level tuition is given a $55.00 discount if paid in full on or before Sunday, November 6, 2011 making total tuition only $425.00.

Symphony level members choosing to pay in installments will follow the following payment schedule:

  • 1st Installment of $210.00 due on September 11, 2011
  • 2nd Installment of $215.00 due by November 6, 2011 in order to receive $55.00 discount

or **2nd Installment option of $270.00 due by February 5, 2011 which does not include $55.00 discount because time extension is given.

Preparatory level tuition is due on or before November 6, 2011. A minimum payment of $210.00 is due by Sunday, September 11, 2011. The remaining tuition balance of $90.00 is due on or before November 6, 2011. There is no discount given on preparatory level tuition.

BAYS is a non-profit organization so tuition rates are based solely on the needs to make the organization to operate and manage its monetary needs. Please contact our treasurer Karen Dinardis for information regarding tuition payments. Music for each new concert will not be checked out to a student until the payment installment is complete. For instruments such as the harp that might not be used for every concert, tuition will be pro-rated.

The prorated tuition for the remainder of the season for new members joining BAYS in January is $320.00 for symphony and $200.00 for preparatory. Member applications, $25.00 application fee and tuition is due on or before Sunday, February 5, 2012.

Financial Aid

Bay Area Youth Symphony provides financial assistance for those in need. No student will be denied membership based on financial hardship. Aid is granted based on proof of need and your most recent Federal Income Tax Return. Recipients of financial assistance will be asked to serve to help BAYS in some way. If you need financial assistance please email Lisa Batson to apply. The BAYS board of directors will review and help any student find a sponsor in the community for his/her chair.
