BAYS is comprised of students of all age levels meeting the criteria set forth in the audition requirements. Since 2006, BAYS has expanded into two full symphony orchestras and a preparatory string orchestra.

The Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Matt Tavilson, is a full symphony orchestra composed of talented young artists catered to the more advanced player. Various orchestral works are selected with repertoire ranging from the university to professional levels in order to create a challenging environment for these gifted musicians and to broaden their abilities.

The Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Lisa Black, is a full symphony orchestra composed of talented young artists catered to intermediate level players. Diverse repertoire is selected allowing students to learn about different types of classical literature in preparation for higher level performance in the future.

The Preparatory Orchestra, conducted by Kysha Bradshaw, provides novice/entry-level string players the experience and opportunity to perform in an organized string ensemble. Detailed techniques and skills for both individual instruments and playing in an orchestral environment are instructed.
